Deadpool does Fanime, and wins

He does it so hard, and almost gets done harder I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of Deadpool. It’s not that I dislike his humor or self-aware, fourth-wall breaking schtick. Rather, it’s that I feel too few people can actually utilize said schtick into anything interesting. Too often I feel like there’s a huge reliance on his self-awareness and eccentricities as being comedy in and of itself....

Dragon Quest Builders has a demo out for PS4 and Vita

I’ll never tire of this music I can’t remember the last time I downloaded a demo, but I’ll happily take the time to nab the trial forDragon Quest Builders(PS4 here,PS Vita here). I’m so curious about this game. What initially looked like a me-too sandbox construction title has come into focus assomething far more compelling. We’re rapidly approaching October (What the? How!) which means we’re not far off fromBuilders. It’ll grace PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on October 11 in North America, and October 14 in Europe....

EA censors its own support number on its forums

If nobody calls, it must mean nobody has any complaints! [Editor’s note:As I indicated in the third paragraph, I assumed that blocking the phone number on the forums has likely been a long-standing practice. As ZiggyMoff posted in the comments, Valve does something similar — replaces the phone number for an email address. I can’t claim to know how common this is, but I do know that it’s stupid and prevents users from easily getting in touch with proper support....

Eminem’s new video is packed with COD: Ghosts imagery

[Video watchers: Explicit lyrics warning!] It has been awhile since we’ve seen a music video that was so heavy on the cross-promotion. Somehow, Eminem’s “Survival” crams so muchCall of Duty: Ghostspromotion in without being offensive or heavy handed. I’m kind of impressed! I mean, I don’t like the song at all (it sounds like he has to poop for most of it, and the hook is lousy), but the cross-promotional imagery isn’t bad or annoying....

Fallout Worlds recreates the spirit of custom Minecraft servers for Fallout 76

You can even jump into public worlds Just recently, Bethesda explained that they were adding something unique to the nextFallout 76public test session, and well, this seems to be it.Announced this week, Fallout Worlds is basically Bethesda’s way of introducing custom servers into the game. Basically, you’re able to customize a Fallout Worlds server to your heart’s content, whether that’s all-in on CAMPS and creation or PVP and survival. The team provides two specific examples: removing the need for electricity so you can build and break the rules, or make the overworld tougher by tweaking its difficulty, essentially turning it into a survival exercise....

Gothic creator working on a science fantasy RPG

Mutated creatures, you say? Piranha Bytes is known forGothicandRisen, but it’s stepping away from those series to create a new role-playing game,ELEX. That’s “eclectic, lavish, exhilarating, xenial.” Got it? Me neither! We can’t actually see the gameuntil August, at gamescom, but Piranha and publisher Nordic Games are talking about the basics. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic science-fantasy world, which means mutated creatures and, what else, moral choices. Long way off, though —ELEXwon’t hit PC and consoles until winter 2016 at the earliest....

Here’s what the Nintendo Switch in-store GameStop pre-order situation is like in the US

Around 25 per store Having just returned from pre-ordering my Nintendo Switch andZeldaSpecial Edition, I have a better idea of what the in-store situation is like at GameStop. Going off of calls and experiences with roughly 10 stores, and an inside source at GameStop with access to company memos, each location is looking at getting roughly 25 consoles in total, with wiggle room for more or less stock. The most I’ve heard that one store has carried so far is 40....

Is classic Survival Horror considered old fashioned now?

Not scary anymore I like to be scared. I’m not some kind of dark-obsessed weirdo, though. I just really enjoy the feeling of being tense or terrified, so much so that I used to think that there was something wrong with me. Maybe there is. A few years back, after a nearly year-long kick of reading freaky books, watching horror movies, and replaying some of my favorite survival horror videogames, I decided to do some digging into why I like to be scared....
