RememberBack 4 Blood? It was touted as the next best thing toLeft 4 Dead, but when it launched towards the latter parts of 2021, it felt like it had bitten off more than it could chew. While the game is rated as “Mostly Positive” onSteam, it couldn’t quite deliver what it promised. Still, there’s a possibility that a follow-up may be in development.

According to a recent report fromMP1st,Back 4 Blood 2could happen. Speculations about this can be traced to the resume of actor and stunt performer Jesse Hutch, who has listed a mysterious project on their website called “Gobi 2.” It is listed in reference to Turtle Rock Studios, which suggests this could have something to do with a sequel to the FPS zombie game.

Now, we know the developer has said it is working on a new project, so this may not necessarily be what it sounds like. However, the fact thatBack 4 Blooddid go by the codename “Gobi” – as noted bySteamDB– is an interesting detail, indeed.

Would you play a follow-up?

Of course, it should be stated that this is only a rumor. It’s probably not solid enough evidence to jump to too many conclusions and, at the time of writing, neither Turtle Rock nor publisher Warner Bros. Games has confirmed whether a sequel is in the pipeline or not.

When last we heard aboutBack 4 Blood, thestudio had said it wasn’t making any more contentfor the game as the team was moving onto new things. We don’t know whether one of these projects will beB4B2or not, so we are just going to have to sit tight and wait for official word on that.

As for the game itself, I get why it fell short of a lot of people’s expectations. Being likened to Valve’s iconicLeft 4 Deadseries was always going to put pressure on the studio. Personally, I likedBack 4 Blood, but I can see why some took issue with it. It certainly didn’t feel like something that demanded a sequel, but then, stranger things have happened in gaming.
