‘Ambitious’ releases pushed back to next year

Bethesda has announced that two of its biggest upcoming releases will no longer meet their penciled-in 2022 release dates. As of a delay announced today, Bethesda Game Studios’ space operaStarfieldand Arkane Austin’s charismatic monster-hunting adventureRedfallare now both expected to launch in the first half of 2023.

“The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them,”wrote the publisher this morning on Twitter.

Both titles are currently in development as Xbox exclusive releases, and we’ll likely see more of them on June 12 during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. E3 isn’t happening this year in physical or digital form, but the show — the many, many shows — must go on.
