One of the first five professions you have access to inBrighter Shoresis Fisherman, accessible in the first zone of Hopeport. Most of the fish you will fish up inBrighter Shoresare used in two of the other Hopeport professions: Alchemist and Chef. We’ve put together thisBrighter ShoresFisherman Guide so you know the best way to level the Fishing profession and where you can find all the fish as you level up.
How to level the Fisherman profession
InBrighter Shores, you’ll level Fishing by simply catching fish around Hopeport. From Level 0, you’ll want to purchase a Fishing Spear for 12 Silver at Melv’s Fishing Supplies in Hopeport. This will allow you to use your Spear to do some Spearfishing for the early catchable fish including Flounder, Eel, and Gurnad.
A good rule of thumb when leveling Fishing is to constantly upgrade your Fishing equipment as you unlock it, and always fish the highest level fish you have unlocked. For example, start with Mottled Flounder then switch to Lesser Eel at Fishing Level 2 and Sandy Pufferfish at Level 4. Higher-level fish not only give more XP, but you can sell them for more money at the Fish Stall.

You also unlock a better Fishing Spear at Level 15 that costs a whopping 126 Silver, but adds 5% more XP when Fishing, so it’s worth grabbing. Other equipment will be required to catch certain fish, such as a Fishing Rod to start catching Dab and other fish you can’t catch with a Fishing Pole.
How to AFK Level Fishing
Like other professions, you may start AFK or offline leveling your Fishing skill inBrighter Shoresupon reaching Level 20. At Level 20 you’ll start earning Knowledge each time you do any actions. Once your Knowledge bar reaches 100%, you will receive a Knowledge Point. You can invest this Knowledge Point into unlocking passive skills for the profession of your choice.
The first passive skill you can unlock for Fisherman is the ability to catch Common Dab at Level 20. By spending one Knowledge Point on this skill, you can then offline and AFK fish up the Common Dab in Hopeport to slowly gain XP while offline or idle.

In the event you know you are going to be offline for a while, check your Fisherman tab and look for the highest level Fish with a blue circle next to it. This indicates the fish can be caught while idle or even offline, so start the process before logging out to ensure you’ll come back to some XP and fish. Of course, these fish give a lot less XP compared to normal fish, but it’s at least a way to continue leveling passively.
