Destiny 2: Into the Lightis great, as it turns out, withveryexciting goodies and gear to chase after, and it is poised as a stellar lead-up into the July release ofFinal ShapeDLC. The new player onboarding system with New Light kits, though, will wreck your loadouts.
Notably, there appears to be a serious and wildly annoying bug related toInto the Light‘s onboarding skip feature. These New Light kits are available via Ikora at the Tower and Shaw Han at the Cosmodrome, and they’re essentially bundles of potentially useful loot orientedprimarilytowards total newcomers. Of course, though, veteran players can claim these kits as well, though those who have done soreport getting their loadouts and subclass ability setups reset back to default. It’s… less than ideal, especially if you’ve set everything up in a painstakingly complex manner, which many of us have done.
Destiny 2’s New Light kits will wipe your subclass and loadout setups
More specifically, it would seem that claiming one of the three featured New Light kits (notShaxx’s Gift of the Thunder Gods, mind – that offer is perfectly fine and not bugged) will fully reset that specific ability set’s customizations. Taking the Hunter Gunslinger kit, then, will reset any and all Solar ability setups you may have permanently saved on your Loadouts. Not a huge issue for a newcomer, of course, but if you have all the abilities and modifiers unlocked and set upjust right, be ready to fix it back up again if you claim the New Light kit.
Into the Lightis obviously an enticing offeringfor both newcomers and veterans alike, having your ability kit wiped out is about as annoying an issue as it could get. To clarify, it seems thatonlythe abilities get reset, but you will have to go from one loadout slot to the next and fix it all up if you want to claim the New Light gear kits. So, maybe pass on the offer until Bungie can fix the problem.
In other related news,Bungie’s latestDestiny 2: Final Shapeshowcasesended up surprising players with some truly unexpected goodies. Highlights include the introduction of the Dread – an entirely new and remarkably interesting Darkness race of combat proxies – as well as the precedent-setting Prismatic subclass. As its name may betray, the Prismatic element allows Guardians to combine various elemental abilities from all the other subclasses into one super-customizable, personalized combat kit. It’s quite unlike anything seen before inDestiny, and it’s bound to make the DLC an exciting offering all on its own. As an aside, Bungie’s also shown off the return of the Exotic Class items (e.g. capes for Hunters), which will come with randomized perks from various other Exotic items,including items from other Guardian Classes. It’s a whopper, that’s for sure.
