Depending on which way you choose to go inFinal Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, you’ll travel to either Kozama’uka or Urqopacha. Either way, you’ll be stuck traveling on land until you’ve unlocked all of theAether Currentsin the area.

Every area inDawntrailfollows the same pattern, and there are a total of fifteen Aether Currents to unlock in each. 10 of these can be found around the map using yourAether Compass, four can be unlocked by completing side quests, and one is unlocked through MSQ progression.

Flying in Kozama’uka, Final Fantasy XIV

Regardless of which area you choose to go to first, you’re likely to be able to unlock most of the Kozama’uka Aether Currents before you’re able to unlock some of the ones in Urqopacha.

Side quests

The following Aether Currents are found by completing side quests. These quests only become available after meeting certain conditions, which I will note:

MSQ quests

The final Aether Current in Kozama’uke is unlocked by completing the level 92 MSQ quest ‘Sibling Rescue.’

Once you’ve completed this quest and gathered up all of the Aether Currents listed above, you’ll be able to mount up and fly across the new landscape of Kozama’uka.
