Sci-fi exploration is becoming popular again. We have the talked-aboutNo Man’s Skyas the current king, but other games likeThe Outer Worldsare also on the horizon, or already here.Journey to the Savage Planetdefinitely counts, as it takes place on an uncharted planet as the player character attempts to make first contact.
The whole shtick is very much like the self-depreciating tone ofThe Orvilleor the upcomingStar TrekTV showLower Decks, where the “4th Best Interstellar Exploration Company” is the star. It looks deliciously goofy as hell and will sport co-op as well as some fairly enticing and varied environments. The phrases “upbeat,” and “colorful” when describing its world really sold me on at least putting it on my radar.
Journey to the Savage Planetis slated for release on June 27, 2025 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. On PC, it will actually be an Epic Games Store exclusive.
