Hasbro and partners Winning Moves have announced plans to launch three new variants of well-loved, classic board games, in time for the holiday season.Risk: Stranger Things,Monopoly: Sonic the Hedgehog, andMonopoly: Hello Kittyare all due to hit shelves by the end of the year and are available to pre-order on some retailer sites.
The classic area control board game,Risk, was launched way back in 1959. Since then, it has seen the launch of multiple variants includingLord of the Rings,Star Wars, andTransformers-themedversions. The most recent launch was 2013’sRisk: Plants vs Zombies, which was a two-player edition in which players played as either of the eponymous groups.Risk: Stranger Thingstakes place in the town of Hawkins and lets two to five players choose whether to play on the side of good or evil.

To coincide with the launch of theHello Kittymovie, Hasbro is also launchingMonopoly: Hello Kitty. It joins a roster of hundreds of variants of one of the world’s most popular games. The movie is set to release on November 1, so keen players can expect the game to launch at around the same time.
Finally, Hasbro also announced another variant ofMonopoly, this time themed on video game heroSonic the Hedgehog. Players will race around the board in true Sonic style, trading vehicles and characters from the series of games. The game can be played by two to six players and features metal character tokens including Sonic’s shoe and, of course, a gold ring.
