It came as a bit of a surprise, but this year’sDestiny 2Guardian Games ended up being one of the very best iterations of the event, bar none. That’s all thanks to the phenomenal Rushdown mode, featuringDestiny 2‘s best boss fights in a mad dash to the end.

The thing about Rushdown Mode is that it can get a fair bit challengingat the highest difficulty settings, though. Since it’s a bespoke, non-mandatory game mode, Bungie could crank things up to eleven without worrying too much, and certain boss fights are particularly painful if you’re unprepared.

Take the legendary Quria, Blade Transform, for example. This Taken Vex Hydra played a massive role inDestiny‘s old lore, but it was alsothe final encounter of theSeason of the Splicer, and that particular boss fight is what’s been modified for Rushdown. Here’s how to beat it!

How to defeat Quria, Blade Transform in Destiny 2 Rushdown Mode?

Whereas the majority of Guardian Games 2025’s Rushdown boss fights are fairly straightforwardDestinyfare, Quria takes things up a notch or two in most respects. It’s a complex boss fight, for one, that necessitates knowing the mechanics and the arena ahead of time. On top of that, The Dreaming Mind itself is no slouch, being able to take down a fully armored Guardian in mere seconds if they’re not careful.

The baseline first, then: there are specific bits and bobs you’re going to want to equip to make the Quria, Blade Transform fight easier for you. Firstly, Void Resist and Sniper Resist Mods are important, so be sure to stock up on those. The exact number of stacks you want to have will depend on your personal preference and build, naturally, so some trial and error may pay off in this respect.

Secondly, ensure that you’ve gotplenty of crowd-control options at your disposal. The fight with Quria is a staged ordeal, and in between damage windows you’ll need to contend with a substantial number of chaff enemies wherever you go.

As far as specific item choices and class builds go, I’ve got a few handy recommendations to keep in mind:

Destiny 2 Rushdown Quria fight mechanics explained

Now that we’ve got all the prep work sorted out, it’s time to talk mechanics as this has been the key stumbling block for most random Fireteams in my experience. Quria, Blade Transform is more mechanic-heavy than many other fights found in Rundown, and Guardians only used to Strike-level bosses will find it too complicated off the bat, which then leads to further confusion and unnecessary frustrations. Here’s a guide onexactlywhat to do in this encounter, step-by-step:

Setting Guardian Games and Rushdown aside for a little bit, if you’re keen on playing something likeDestiny 2but don’t want to engage with FOMO-heavy live-service elements of the experience, I may have just the thing for you. This list of largely offline gamesfeatures elements ofDestiny 2‘s core gameplay loop in wildly different contexts, but they’re effective just the same asDestinyoften is. If not, though, Quria awaits!
