The second of a planned trilogy
A few months ago I did the Lord’s work by reporting on atabletop RPG based off of the music of Carly Rae Jepsen. I also shared a sad, sad story of remorse and regret regarding the immaculately poor decision to not go see her in concert. My days have been haunted by the ghost of what could have been, tormenting me at every turn. Bound by my own mourning, I have been a shell of my old self.
I’m happy to announce that as of Tuesday, July 23, I will have rid myself of this curse and seen my queen live in concert. I bought VIP tickets to her show in Raleigh, NC, so I’ll get to see her sound check, do a Q&A, take a group photo, and get a signed poster. Only one thing could finally complete my arc of redemption: Talking about a new Carly Rae tabletop game.

In Colin’s first outing,Boy Problems, players were tasked with infiltrating a secure vault to free the 200+ unreleased Carly Rae tracks some greedy, rich dick was hoarding. In this quasi-kinda-almost sequel, things have taken a turn for the worse. The Ancient Goddess has slumbered for far too long, and you and your cult of fanatic CRJ followers must perform the sacred rites in order to raise Her from her confines and unleash Her onto the world.
It’s not that easy, though, as the normal townsfolk are scared and superstitious. They listen to Kid Rock and are easily frightened by the empowerment and energy brought on by the one true goddess of pop. You have seven days to convince them by solving mysteries by day and spreading The Power of Truth at nightly town hall meetings. Upgrade your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Weird to ease your task. Bring them to our side, and perform the final ritual in an attempt to resurrect Her.
Yes, this game has a Weird stat. The Weirder you get, the more powers you get — and yes, those powers are based off of Carly Rae’s lyrics. Weird channels through you, strengthening you, but can also tear apart reality. Take it from me; I know this feeling all too well.
