It is not often that I get to write about Europe and gaming with any sense of pleasure, buta recent statementfrom Microsoft is one of those satisfying changes of pace. Realizing that success in Japan just isn’t going to happen, The ‘Soft has woken up to the fact that, hey, the European market is a worthwhile investment. MS wants the 360 to dominate globabally, even if that means sacrificing some territories for the sake of others. The winners in this equation are, hopefully, we of the monocle-wearing persuasion.

“The No. 1 objective is to win on a global basis and that may mean winning some markets and losing others.” said Aaron Greenberg, product manager for the Xbox 360. “Europe is our priority focus right now.”

We’re not sure exactly how Microsoft is going to focus on we in the PAL territories, but it’s got to be better than the shoddy treatment certain other companies give us (mentioning no names, Nintendo). Microsoft already does a good job with giving us mostly timely releases in comparison to our American cousins, so it’s good to know they understand that there’s money to be had here. Perhaps we’ll see more at this mysterious UK Xbox event that has been promised before the year is out. My monocle shall naturally be firmly fixed on these developments.
