He speaks English and is adorable
Nintendo continues to show that they don’t give a rat’s ass about following trends, and I think it’s fantastic. While Capcom is working to make the nextDead Risingappeal to theCall of Dutyfanbase and Namco Bandai wants to make the nextDark Soulsa “AAA” title, Miyamoto is playing with stuffed animals while talking about hitting a giant dog-bug directly on the eyeball. This is how he wants to sell you onPikmin 3. For better or worse, he hasn’t changed a bit.
I haven’t heard anything from Nintendo about gimmicks or non-play-related marketing bluster this year. Other than the fact that every first-party Wii U game I’ve seen on the show floor so far has off-TV play, it’s been all about how the games looks and how fun they are to play. It will be interesting to see if “just playing a fun videogame” is something that sells this holiday season.
