It looks suspiciously good…

Not content to just releaseTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowsthis year, Activision has also announced the annoyingly namedTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, based on the new, supposedly surprisingly good Nickelodeon cartoon. You know, we have subtitles for a reason, Activision. It lets us easily tell games apart. I get the drive towards simplicity, but we rememberTurtles in Timemore than anything, anyway. Subtitles are fine.

The local, four person drop-in/drop-out co-op brawler is slated to “bridge the gap between the show’s first and second seasons.” It also looks pretty awesome, easily transposing the show’s unique, blocky 3D style with a sort of cel-shaded look. I like it a lot more thanOut of the Shadows‘ sort of gross and gritty style.

At the same time, I’m cautious about this game. For instance, why is this retail release only coming to Xbox 360, Wii, and 3DS? Why not Wii U or PS3? What are you hiding, Activision? The amount of actual gameplay shown was pretty slim.

For the time being, I’ll remain cautiously optimistic and go playTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heiston my Genesis (because I no longer haveTurtles in TimeandHyperstone Heistis basically the same game with an added boss) and hope this doesn’t end badly.
