Starbreeze, developer of such fine games asChronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena,The Darknessand the recently releasedSyndicate, has announced that their next title,Cold Mercury, will attempt to tackle a free-to-play business model.

Speaking with IndustryGamers, Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark made it clear that this wasn’t a sign that Starbreeze would no longer be pursuing AAA projects, commenting that they are currently in discussions with several publishers for the financing of future retail products. In addition to work onCold Mercury, Starbreeze is also working to secure a distribution deal forP13, a title they are developing with Swedish film director Josef Fares.
