October’s Only on PlayStation Network promotion will bring a month’s worth of great new exclusive games to gamers, but it will also dig up some rare PlayStation classics. Relinquishing control, in a way Remedy is finally breaking free of the linear narrative formula that it has damn near perfected over the past 20+ years. For its seventh game,Control, it’s wading into the waters of the open-world genre. We were shown a 20-some-minute hands-off demo that elaborated upon how exactlyControlis structured. The most notable takeaway is that it’s open-world, or at least open-ended. There’s a large(ish) environment that you can move about freely, eventually revisiting places and accessing new areas thanks to some abilities that are acquired further on in the story....

Sadly Remember when Sega games came to the Wii Virtual Console en masse? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It was a childhood dream come true, seeing Sega and Nintendo unite in such a fashion, but the match doesn’t seem to be right on the Wii U. When asked why Sega favorites haven’t yet made their way over to Wii U, producer Yosuke Okunari simply replied “there is no such plan.” The publisher has been hard at work making 3DS Classics like madmen, but the Wii U side seems to be left in the cold for now....

Go Pearl or Go Home After a few days of ink-flinging online mayhem, the horror that is Nintendo’s latest splatfest, which took place globally onSplatoon 2, has finally come to its conclusion. It was close, real close, but now that the ink has dried in North America, Europe and Japan, the scores have been tallied and we can see that Pearl’s Team Squid beat out Marina’s Team Octopus 2-1. All three points were very close, with Octopus bagging 55% of the vote, and Squid pulling back Team and Solo points by a mere 1-3%....
