Supergiant releases stylish Transistor vinyl and updates digital OST

It just sounds ‘warmer’ dude The soundtrack forTransistorcontains some of the coolest, chillest, sit-in-a-dark-room-and-vibe tracks I’ve ever heard from a video game. So while I normally don’t think much of premium vinyl editions, I’m pretty curious aboutthis one. Supergiant Games is selling a very slick looking vinyl version of the OST complete with killer album art and liner notes. There’s still an upside to this news even if you’re broke. Supergiant has updated all digital versions of the soundtrack (Steam, Bandcamp, or its online store) with the single “She Shines” that was releasedback in November....

Tekken 3D: Prime Edition has some new screenshots

In what’s shaping up to be the premiere fighter on the 3DS,Tekken 3D: Prime Editionappears to be coming along very nicely. Boasting 40 characters, which far surpassesSuper Street Fighter IV: 3D EditionandDead or Alive: Dimensions‘ roster, the inclusion of a 3D movie and the game running at 60 FPS even with the 3D on all has me thinking this could very well be the best fighter on the 3DS. And that’s saying a lot....

There’s going to be a Clicker Heroes 2

The only winning move… I escaped the clutches ofClicker Heroesonce, and I’ll do it again. It was my favorite of the time-wasting, dopamine-releasing idle games. It got me real good. Now, a sequel is underway for next year. It’s a substantial step up, visually speaking, and based on the Steam description,Clicker Heroes 2will follow a similar loop: “Kill monsters. Get gold. Choose your gear. Upgrade your gear. Learn talents. Defeat horrifying bosses....

Why Zombie Studios turned down publishers for Daylight

Details on the surprisingly small team behind this horror game Rounding out ourrecentcoverageof Zombie Studios’ horror gameDaylight, I have a little more from my chat last week with studio creative head Jared Gerritzen and writer Jessica Chobot. With the studio behindBlacklight: Retributionattached to the project, there have been misconceptions about the size of the game’s core team, especially considering that this is an Unreal Engine 4 project. “It’s literally Jessica and about six of my devs working on this,” Gerritzen told Destructoid....

XCOM reboot director and original creator hug it out

Make alien love, not war! Adam Sessler and Rev3 Games brings two noteworthy turn-based designers together in the same room to chat and hug it out. On one end isX-COM(1994) creator Julian Gollop; the other is occupied by2012XCOMrebootdesigner Jake Solomon. Gollop created more than theXCOMseries. He pioneered turn-based tactical combat games withRebelstarandLaser Squad, and most recently releasedGhost Recon: Shadow Wars(the only 3DS launch title that holds up). WhileX-COMwas later ruined by publisher MicroProse management — which insisted on making the franchise into shooters and rushing annual sequels — Gollop’s other series went unnoticed in the West....

Yakuza 0 is off to a bumpy start on PC as Sega rolls back its first patch

It caused issues for players who didn’t have any previously When the PC port ofYakuza 0works,it works well enough, but there’s an unfortunate lack of consistency. Some players have struggled to make it through certain substories without crashing, others are dealing with stuttering issues, and some unlucky few can’t even seem to get the game to launch properly. It’s a shame to see such a wonderful thing brought down by technical woes....

A 4-week-old Bastion looked ugly but played beautifully

Videogame development is an iterative process, and games undergo countless changes along the way. In many cases, the final product bears little resemblance to earlier versions, as developers refine their vision and excise features that just don’t work. Supergiant Games’Bastion, one of my favorite games of 2011, is no different. It began life in September 2009, when designer Amir Rao and engineer Gavin Simon set out to build a playable prototype with which they could try to attract interest from developers and publishers....

A better look at Star Wars Battlefront II’s story

But still mostly cutscenes With a month before launch, DICE is opening up about theStar Wars Battlefront IIstory campaign. Today’s trailer is our best look at it yet, highlighting both the broad strokes (“What do we do now that our Emperor is dead?”) and the appearance of certain established characters and locations. It’s worth reiterating that this is meant to fall betweenReturn of the JediandThe Force Awakens. The timing here is unfortunate in light of EA’s recentclosure of Visceral Games(which was, up until now, making an action-adventureStar Warstitle), but I’m liking the story premise forBattlefront II....
