Kick, Punch, it’s all in the mind After nearly thirty years, theStreet Fighterseries has still been going strong. With more incarnations than most people can remember, the series is seen by many as the quintessential example of what the fighting game genre can aspire to be, and what the hardcore fans look for when it comes to deep, refined gameplay. As the next installment is steadily coming out of its shell, there’s been reflection about the legacy ofStreet Fighter....

I’m mainly hoping that it will steal my heart I’m bursting at the seams with hopes and dreams at the moment. It must be a spring thing, though looking outside my window, I’m hard pressed to imagine that we’re entering a new season. It’s positively gloomy outside, clouds blocking out all light and smothering everything in a bleak shadow. Speaking of shadows, many of my hopes and dreams are aimed directly atThief,a title that no doubt many of you are sparing a thought for at the moment....

NECA appears to be doing quite well for itself with theBioShocktoys, as it’s got plenty more in the works. The toy company is currently working on some new figures, including the Thuggish Splicer, and a set of rather awesome looking replica Splicer masks. A welding mask and a cracked rabbit mask have currently been revealed, both of which look pretty damn authentic. They’re listed for release this Fall, and I have to admit that I might be tempted by both of the bastards....

Aww yeah, Until Dawn If you haven’t playedUntil Dawn, I highly recommend you do so. It’s one of the funnest games with a room full of people, and lacking that, a room where you can turn all the lights off and just generally get creeped out. It’s obviously leading the pack for July’s PS Plus lineup, but it’s not the only big entry. With that, PS4 owners can also nab Telltale’sGame of Thrones(just in time for the new season), PlayStation 3 users can getTokyo Jungle(where’s my sequel) andDarkstalkers Resurrection(RIP)....

That still counts as PC, right? Ever looked at those silly mobile devices, scoffed, and returned to your monstrous PC gaming rig that’s now running the wimpy Windows 8 (secretly becoming jealous of all the sweet bite-sized titles they get)? Well, you now have the opportunity to play some of those fantastic games originally thought to only make it to Android and iOS. One such game is none other thanRayman Jungle Run, winner ofthe iTunes App Store’s Game of the Yearand a nominee ofour very own “Best of Portable 2012” award....

A good sign Look, I like my Wii U. I really like it. Nintendo came at us with yet another weird, innovative system late last year, packed full of gaming potential and open to a crazy amount of control schemes and options. And Miiverse — what a breath of fresh air! While it’s still early in the game I feel comfortable saying that Nintendo knocked it out of the park as far as console launches are concerned....

Gimme You’re probably used to me gushing overSimCityby now, but here’s more with this new multi-city demonstration that EA just released. You’ll see an example of a casino city running at full steam, which makes me a bit jealous as that was my plan for my first city. Watching how easy it is to upgrade these casinos makes it hurt even more that we have to wait for this game....

Try to act surprised Nintendo just released a new thirty-second ad forSmash Bros. Ultimateand it’s one for the books. On the surface, it looks like it was designed to sell lanky pre-teens on a special brand of self-esteem that only comes from trouncing beefy ginger boys in a contest of video games. It’s all firmly in theEverything Is Terriblewheelhouse and I’m here for it. But what is this? Pause the video at the two-second mark and you’ll see thatsomething new has been added....

Sony’s unseasonableprice cut announcementandmassive ad campaignseem to suggest that the company is hoping that the PS3 will dominate the holiday season. However, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada seemsa little more reserved, believing that the benefits of a price drop won’t be felt by his own company until 2010. He’s certainly not as enthusiasticasFF XIII‘s producer was. “In terms of the impact (the PS3 cut) will have on this financial year’s earnings, I don’t think there will be a major difference,” explains Wada....

Cyberpunk on a more stable platform In case you missed it, Apple really doesn’t want studios selling individual games on their own cloud service apps. It’s impacted both Stadia and Microsoft xCloud, among other outfits, but those service providers are working around it. Just this week,Stadia released their iOS solution: just use Safari. Free to celebrate Omensight Stories: The Path of Destinieswas a game that my friend and I took a chance on when it hit PS Plus a few years back. We thought the idea looked cool and we were in between playing other titles, so we figured we had nothing to lose. Turns out the game was pretty awesome. It mixes a branching narrative with multiple paths to create a kind ofGroundhog’s Dayvibe that entices you to keep trying different things....

Koei is known for its strategy games and its endless hack n’ slash sequels. One thing it’s not really famous for is its RPG library, so I’m very eager to see howTrinity: Souls of Zill O’llfares when it finally arrives. A brand new trailer has been blasted from Koei’s PR knob all into our media mouths, so enjoy the sweet blog drippings. The video shows off gameplay for (I think) the very first time, and it’s certainly not the turn-based JRPG I was expecting....

Roll for initiative Dungeons & Dragonsis yet another gaming franchise that’s making its way to the big screen, and this one has been a long time coming. Whispers of the film started back in 2013, when the battle for legal rights started, and pre-production started in 2017, when Hasbro officially announced that the movie was happening. After a delayed release date from 2021 due to the pandemic’s effect on production, theDungeons & Dragonsmovie got pushed to 2023....
