Next spring, Ratchet and Clank return for, well,Ratchet & Clank. Insomniac Games is working on a re-imagining of the original PlayStation 2 title, “revised to tie in with the deeper version of Ratchet’s origin story” which will be fully covered in thefeature filmdebuting June 29, 2025.
It’s a welcome sight on PlayStation 4 where, sadly, there are few if any games of this ilk. Fans who have kept up with the series are in for some surprises. For one, the arsenal — most of the weapons featured in the newRatchet & Clankweren’t there in the original. Some are old, some are new, and one turns enemies into an explosion of chunky pixels à la3D Dot Heroes.
“We ended up with a new game, with elements based on the original — but now with modern controls, several new planets, new and updated gameplay segments, all-new Clank gameplay, all-new boss fights, new flight sequences, and more,” said Insomniac’s James Stevenson.
