That’s all he’s getting for now

During yesterday’s Ubisoft Forward presentation, fans of theSplinter Cellfranchise once again walked away empty-handed. The only reference made to the long-dormant stealth series was the appearance of its protagonist, Sam Fisher, in a new trailer for upcoming mobile titleTom Clancy’s Elite Squad.

Revealed during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference,Elite Squadis a tactical RPG which utilises a roster of stars pulled from various Ubisoft franchises. Alongside Mr. Fisher,Elite Squadboasts stars such asThe Division’sMegan,Ghost Recon’sNomad and Weaver, andRainbow Six Siege’sMontagne and Caveira. In the new trailer, some of these trigger-happy maniacs were seen rescuing – of all people – El Sueno, antagonist ofGhost Recon: Wildlands.Sueno is arealbad dude, so Sam better know what he’s doing.

Despite it being a full year sinceElite Squad’sreveal, we are still yet to sink our teeth into some real meat-and-potatoes gameplay footage. We do, however, know thatTom Clancy’s Elite Squadwill launch on iOS and Android as a free-to-play title on August 27. Players can pre-register to unlock Montagne’s M1911 handgun.

While I’m not exactly dizzy with excitement, I’m still diggingVirtua Fighter-style Caveira.
