It’s better

You gotta love Nintendo’s super vague patch notes. While they might think that “a more pleasant gaming experience” is just that — a pleasant description — most people want a little more. Digital Foundry just put the recent 1.1.1 patch forZelda: Breath of the Wildto the test though and found that yes, it is quite pleasant!

Testing both the previous version and the new 1.11 update, they found that in key areas (read: mostly the starting zone and the infamous forest), there was a definite improvement. While the game does dip to around 20 frames-per-second in either instance, it’s a little closer to 30 more often than before.

It’s still not perfect as 1.11 can frequently dip into the 20s in busier areas, but it’s something.
