Shuhei Yoshida speaks at TGS

Eurogamer managed to catch up with Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, who shared a few thoughts on theNo Man’s Skydebacle. Ever the optimist, he mentions multiple times that he’s happy with the game itself and that he isn’t in the position to comment on whether or not the PR campaign “harmed” the PlayStation brand, but he does admit it could have been handled better.

Speaking to Sean Murray (the lead developer) himself, Yoshida states, “I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting, because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one. It wasn’t a great PR strategy, because he didn’t have a PR person helping him, and in the end he is an indie developer. But he says their plan is to continue to developNo Man’s Skyfeatures and such, and I’m looking forward to continuing to play the game.”

That’s kind of what most of us were saying from the get-go — someone should have been there to reign Hello Games in before the hype reached Molyneuxian levels. Regardless it’snear the top of the NPD charts, second only to the unstoppable force that isMadden, and that’s not even including digital sales.

I like to think that the creature in the center of the header image is us — kind of in awe at this whole process, wondering what in the world the powers that be are thinking right now besides “I think this money goes great with all this money we have.”
