Some new tips drop into my in-box like a shiny big dollop of liquid gold. From the day the Wii was announced, FPS on the machine has been at the forefront of my mind, and I’ve had a vaguely realized image of a perfect example of the genre steadily gestating in my big old brain ever since. Now that we’ve finally got the controls of what should be the ideal genre for the console nailed down in the shape ofMetroid Prime 3, I’m getting ever hopeful that it might not to be too long before I see it, and today gave me even more reason for excitement.
Free Radical’s creative director David Doak hasmade quite clearthat he wants to release a point-and-frag version ofTimesplitters 4on Nintendo’s machine. NowTimesplittersis a divisive series. Some people love it while others won’t give it a second look, but as far as I’m concerned, that latter group are not only deeply wrong, but also morally suspect and quite probably enjoy the affection of animals a little too much as well. I’ve been27% happierthroughout my day-to-day life since the announcement ofTimesplitters 4, but while I hoped that Free Radical would agree with me that the nippy gameplay and cartoon presentation the series is famed for would be a perfect fit for the Wii, I never really expected a version for all three consoles.
